Minsterstone, founded in 1885, has a long and successful history in the production of architectural precast stone fireplaces. Minsterstone products are known for the exceptional hand-finished quality. The company employs in-house trained stonemasons. Minsterstone fireplaces are 80% limestone, finished with traditional techniques to bring a final touch as close to natural stone as possible. This approach allows them to execute their signature finishes with such precision, including; egg and dart pattern, gadrooning, carved details, motifs, arises, fillets and stop mouldings. Minsterstone uses West Country limestone, including the following: Portland – as used by Sir Christopher Wren in the restoration of St Paul’s and other key London buildings after the fire of London in 1666. Ham – a stone from Ham Hill near Yeovil, and used in the building of many local houses and stately homes Doulting – used most notably in the construction of Wells Cathedral in the 12th Century, Light and Dark Purbeck and Blue and Red Devon. Our Experience
