Fire Crest Ventilation successfully installed two Ventive PVHR S Ventilation and heat recovery systems for a customer in Swanley, Kent.
The Property
The property was an ex. Local Authority 1940’s build semi-detached.
Our Brief
- To remove the sitting room fireplace and install a Ventive PVHR ventilation system using the existing masonry chimney.
- There was also a blocked fireplace in the main bedroom directly above the sitting room.
- We were to install another Ventive PVHR Ventilation system using the existing chimney shaft.
How we did it
- This installation was not straightforward. After cleaning both masonry chimney shafts we prepared eight inspection holes at various stages throughout the chimney.
- This helps to monitor the progression of the insulated ducting from the top of the chimney stack through to the sitting room below.
- Both chimney pots were removed, heat recovery systems connected to the insulated ducting and was secured within the chimney stack. Then Ventive terminals installed with a sharp sand and cement flaunching to finish.
- Internally, we blocked inspection holes and plaster walling to finish.
- We then installed air vents to the sitting room and main bedroom with a final check to test Ventilation was working correctly.
Outcome
Now both rooms have fresh air ventilating continuously 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Taking heat from the stale air and warming up the incoming fresh air. All with no running costs or maintenance requirements.
